Pastors: Omar & Zenia

In Buenavista, the project focuses on the distribution of medicines, medical supplies, food, transportation to hospital and payment of electricity for the elderly and the disabled. The project also funds transportation to bring locals who live in rural areas to the church itself, uniting them as a community.

Pastor Omar and his wife Zenia were both born in Buenavista where he now serves as pastor.  They know everyone in town, and their deep roots in the community stretch back generations  –Omar’s grandparents immigrated from Spain and settled in Buenavista as farmers.

In 2006 he became pastor of the church in Buenavista and felt a growing burden for the smaller communities in the municipality.

I remember standing with him in the village of Mamey, looking down a long, dusty road.  He turned to me and said, “There are many villages down that road and I want to reach them.”

Not too many years later that vision became a reality.   Today, he visits each village weekly,  teaching them about God and offering guidance to those in need.

With God’s provision--including support from you through Aliento Cuba--on Sunday a truck brings people from the villages to the Sunday gathering in Buenavista
